Rada failed to ban Russian TV series

6991

At the extraordinary session today the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine could not garner enough votes to include the bill on prohibition of the Russian TV series in the agenda.

Only 165 deputies voted for the inclusion of the bill No. 5036 On Introduction of the Amendments to the Law of Ukraine On Television and Radio Broadcasting for the protection of the country’s interests in the agenda. Vyacheslav Kyrylenko and Mykola Tomenko are the authors of the document.

The bill provides temporary (until March 31, 2015) prohibition on broadcasting audiovisual works, the main characters of which are law enforcers, armed forces and special services of Russia and/ or USSR and/ or Russian Empire (except the Soviet audiovisual works, which were released up to August, 1991).
