The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Head of the State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, reported the press service of the Committee.

The head of the SBU is suspected of slander, organizing the use of prohibited means and methods of war, impeding the lawful professional activity of journalists and kidnapping.

According to the investigation, Nalyvaichenko together with the heads of other law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, using the capabilities of the SBU, organized the kidnapping of Russian citizens not involved in the armed conflict in Donbas – journalists of LifeNews TV Channel Oleg Sidyakin and Marat Saychenko.

The Investigative Committee affirmed that it illegally detained the journalists on the territory of Ukraine until May 25, 2014 and inflicted physical harm and mental suffering through systematic beating and other acts of violence.
