The European Union and Ukraine plan to sign an agreement on a common aviation space next year, the EU-Ukraine Association Council said.

“The Association Council underlined the importance of signing the Common Aviation Area Agreement between Ukraine and the EU at the earliest possible date in 2015,” the document says.

The Council stresses that the implementation is envisaged by the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement signed in June and “is an important part of the EU-Ukraine transport agenda.”

The meeting was attended by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and EU commissioner for enlargement and European neighborhood policy Johannes Hahn. Ukraine was represented by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.

The EU and the Ukrainian government agreed to continue to work together towards Ukraine's political association and economic integration with the 28-member bloc.
