The National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization has considered and approved the draft resolution of the Cabinet on holding the tenders for the new radio frequency licenses within the range of 2 gigahertz (UMTS, 3G), member of the commission Viktor Mazur told Capital.

As Capital reported on Monday, the Cabinet decided to represent three licenses at the tender (30 megahertz each) and obligate the winners to pay for conversion, which costs UAH 1.6 bn (US $120 mn) in total.

The starting cost of the license will amount to UAH 2.443 bn (US $119 mn), according to the draft resolution. In the calculations, the government was guided by correlation of the average cost of 1 MHz as per one resident in our region (considering the experience of Latvia, Turkey, Slovakia, Romania, Czech, Poland, Greece).

According to the document, the companies in which over 50% of the authorized capital is owned by the entities registered in Russia will not participate in the tender. As Capital reported earlier, the sanctions can affect only MTS Ukraine.
