Japanese govt decides to sign investment agreement with Ukraine

Japanese government on Tuesday took a decision to sign an agreement with Ukraine on stimulation and protection of investment.

A meeting of the cabinet of ministers was told in connection with the agreement that it was called upon to facilitate the inflow of Japanese investment in the Ukrainian economy

In part, Tokyo said earlier it was ready assist in the modernization of Ukraine’s energy sector and particularly in raising the efficiency of thermal power plants that burned coal.

Officials at the Japanese Foreign Ministry told TASS Japan and Ukraine hoped to sign the document in Kiev on February 5.

At present, the size of Japanese investments in Ukraine is insignificant.

In September 2014, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said at a session of the UN General Assembly that his government was eyeing aid worth $ 1.52 billion to Kiev.
