Political analyst – One of the financial groups is trying to blackmail the president of Ukraine

One of the financial groups is trying to blackmail the President of Ukraine, Ihor Popov, president of Analytical Center Polityka, told the journalist of ForUm, commenting on the so-called "war between two oligarchs", carried out in mass media.

“We need to understand that the conflict is more serious than just a fight between two oligarchs. There is one more line in it – certain people from Dnipropetrovsk said they would burn down the oblast administration if the head of oblast state administration is not replaced. So this is not an ordinary fight between two oligarchs or popular TV channels; this is a signal for the president. Partially, this can be viewed as blackmailing by one of the financial groups of the current central government and the president,” he said.

If the situation were to be evaluated exclusively from the standpoint of interests of the oligarchs, the confrontation is escalating as “the resources are shrinking, while the competition is growing”, noted Popov.

In addition, the analyst called the conflict between deputy governor of Dnipropetrovsk Borys Filatov and famous journalist Serhiy Leshchenko an element of the public policy.
