In July, losses of coal industry in Ukraine amounted to UAH 297 mn (US $22.16 mn) as a result of the combat actions in Donbas, informed first Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Zyukov.

“As a result of the war, we lost UAH 297 mn in July only. We did not produce 315,000 t of coal, according to our plan, and from the beginning of May we lost around 420,000 t,” he said in an interview for Holos Ukrayiny newspaper.

Zyukov specified that in connection with the combat actions in the oblast, around 30-35 mines do not work, and there is a lack of explosive materials in the operating mines, as both plants in Donetsk and Krasniy Luch, which produce the materials, are occupied by the opponents of the central authorities.

As Capital reported, Ukraine, being the second producer of coal in Europe, can reduce exports as a result of fuel shortage in the country after the decrease of coal output and disruption of railroad operation in the zones of the combat actions, according to mass media.
