11034

Russia is planning to stop transit of natural gas through the territory of Ukraine to the countries of the European Union for the winter period, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the session of the Cabinet.

“We know about the plans of Russia to stop transit to the countries which are the members of EU. And that’s exactly why their companies were instructed to pump gas into gas storages in Europe to the maximum,” he said.

The premier specified that Ukraine has already accumulated around 15 bn cu m of gas in its underground gas storage facilities and now concentrates on diversification of the coal supplies, “as Russia and its mercenaries bomb and destroy mines...”

At that, Yatsenyuk informed that Ukraine counts on continuing the negotiations and consultations in the Ukraine-EU-Russia trilateral format to solve the energy problems.
