Party lifeSolidarity Party renamed into Petro Poroshenko Bloc
The decision on renaming Solidarity Party into Petro Poroshenko Bloc was approved at the tenth party congress. “After consultations with the oblast organizations, I propose to rename Solidarity Party into Petro Poroshenko Bloc,” the leader of the party Yuriy Lutsenko said.
“This name will be also the invitation to UDAR, Batkivshchyna, Front for Change parties and other pro-European democratic forces to “unite for victory”, said the party leader.
As President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko noted in his speech at the congress, the renaming of the political force is not just a legal formality, but a position which shows thankfulness not only to the party members and congress delegates, but to all society for finding the opportunity to unite for his election program and making decisive steps which Ukraine needs. The assumed changes will be introduced as Strategy 2020 in the end of September, according to Poroshenko.
As Capital reported, former Minister of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko was earlier elected as the new leader of Solidarity. 122 of 125 of delegates present at the congress supported his nomination.
