Russia reduced requirements on the first tranche of Kyiv’s debt for natural gas from US $2 bn to US $1.454 bn while Ukraine, in its turn, reduced the request for the winter supplies from 5 bn cu m to 4 bn cu m.

“Our last proposal before the beginning of supplies is to pay for the debt for November-December 2013 in the amount of US $1.454 bn,” said Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

It was earlier reported that the Russian side proposed to determine the amount of the first tranche, which should be paid by the beginning of the first supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine, in the amount of US $2 bn.

“We sent the official proposal to the European Commission on October 3. Ukraine has not accepted it yet. The European Commission agreed with us from the very beginning,” added Novak.
