EU threatens Russia with new sanctions if it recognizes elections in DPR and LPR

Head of the European Union delegation in Russia Vygaudas Usackas warned official Moscow that if Russia recognizes the results of elections which will be held on November 2 in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, the European Union will be able to strengthen sanctions against it, as he told journalists in Moscow.

“We are concerned about the fact that Russia is ready to accept and send the observers to the elections scheduled by the self-proclaimed authorities, which are contrary to Minsk agreements,” said Usackas.

“It hardly helps de-escalation of the situation and restoration of trust on the implementation of reached agreements,” noted the high-ranking official of EU.
