Ukraine took 10th place on the list of the countries from which citizens effectuate the largest remittances of money. This year, Ukrainian labor migrants transferred US $9 bn, said specialists of the World Bank, as the United Nations Radio reported.

In 2014, the number of remittances of labor migrants to developing countries increased by 5%, according to the specialists. The military conflict in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia’s economy may influence the volumes of remittances to European and Central Asian countries.

“Last year, the volume of remittances to developing countries amounted to US $413 bn. This year, the figure will reach US $435 bn, according to our forecasts. I should remind that this is only officially documented information. It does not include the volumes of remittances through informal channels,” said World Bank Chief Economist Dilip Ratha.
