Merkel calls for continuing energy dialogue with Russia

12634

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday called for continuing talks with Russia on energy supplies to Europe.

“We should clarify all legal issues related to the South Stream project and use them to move forward talks with Russia,” Merkel said after talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

At the moment, the West and Russia have signed many contacts, she said.

All unsolved problems on the project should be discussed “rather reasonably”, Merkel said, adding that Europe had not given up the South Stream project.

“Representatives of German economy have experience for cooperating with Russia as with a reliable partner,” she said pointing to Russian energy supplies to Germany.
