electionsUS not recognizing results of ’elections’ in Crimea
The U.S. authorities will not recognize the results of the so-called elections held in Crimea, State Department spokesperson Marie Harf has said.
«The United States does not recognize the legitimacy of the so-called regional and local elections in Crimea on September 14 and will not acknowledge their outcome,» she said at a briefing on Monday.
Harf also noted that Washington’s position on Crimea remained clear.
«The peninsula remains an integral part of Ukraine. The United States continues to condemn the Russian Federation’s occupation and purported annexation of Ukrainian territory and its violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity in breach of its obligations and commitments under the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, and its military basing agreements with Ukraine,» she said.
