The Government of Germany is planning to find €615 mn lacking for completion of the construction of the shelter over the fourth nuclear unit of Chornobyl NPP, said Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany Barbara Hendricks.

The enclosure of the remains of the emergency reactor in Chornobyl from the rest of the world is a matter of honor for the countries of the Group 7 (G 7), announced Hendricks in connection with her upcoming meeting on the nuclear energy issues, as dpa agency reported.

The representatives of the G7 have agreed on the actions which exclude the need to spend additional funds for the shelter in Chornobyl. Now the decision on the shortfall financing by the government should be taken to the political level. At that, the German Ministry of Environment has already said that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will actively participate in attraction of the required amount for implementation of the project.

As Capital reported, Ukraine estimated the lack of the funds for the construction of the New Shelter at Chornobyl NPP in the amount of €620 mn.
