Negotiations on coalition came to a deadlock due to two posts

The coalition negotiations have come to a deadlock due to the demand of Premier Arseniy Yatsenyuk to appoint VR Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov first Vice Premier, allowing him to simultaneously hold the post of the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, a source in the Presidential Administration told Capital.

“Yatsenyuk wants Turchynov to supervise all power structures. But there is no indication that this is a dictator's post in the Constitution,” he said. The source said that the premier’s team tries to compensate for the possible loss of the post of the Minister of Internal Affairs by strengthening Turchynov in the team.

According to the source, the second problematical point of negotiations is the post of the Minister of Infrastructure.

“Yatsenyuk wants to promote Serhiy Fayermak to the post of the Minister of Infrastructure. Practically, this is the wallet of the Front for Change, i.e. Yatsenyuk’s. The Ministry of Infrastructure, as heir to the Ministry of Transportation and Communication of Ukraine, is the richest ministry of the country,” said the source.
