Reverse flow supplies of natural gas from the countries of the European Union to Ukraine have cost US $500 mn less than if gas were purchased from Russia, informed Head of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev at a session of the Cabinet.

«I think that we would have overpaid at least US $500 mn (had we purchased gas from Russia). The price we pay for reverse gas supplies is lower than US $385. This summer the price was very low,» he said.

Noteworthy, according to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine imported natural gas from Germany and Hungary at US $360 per 1 cu m in July 2014.

«In addition, we expect that Russia will stop transit flow of natural gas to Europe, which will influence our gas reverse flows,» emphasized Kobolevv.

As a reminder, Minister of Energy of Russia Alexandr Novak has promised that Russia will not stop gas supplies to the countries which supply gas to Ukraine.
